Options to do the Lower goat, 21 miles & 3100 ft. of climb or the Upper one from Tom’s Place. We will attempt to summit the highest paved road in California, elevation 10,220 ft. Bring fresh corpuscles. Carpool to the start at the junction of Lower Rock Creek Rd. at Boundary Rd. From Bishop, drive 10 miles north on Hwy 395, exit left on Gorge Rd. The first right turn will be onto Lower Rock Creek Rd. Drive 1.5 miles north to the junction with Boundary Rd. Park in the dirt lot just past the junction with Boundary Rd. This strenuous route takes us over the escarpment of the massive Sherwin ridge. We’ll regroup at the Tom’s Place cafe at the foot of the second goat. Another option is to do Rock Creek Upper from Tom’s Place junction off 395. Enjoy “Pie in the Sky” al la mode from the deck overlooking Rock Creek Lake. You can freewheel for 19 miles back to 395.
