*** IMPROMPTU RIDE FOR STATS CREDIT *** Our ride starts with Welch Creek. It may be the hardest climb on ACTC's list. Optional is the Calaveras backside, now that it's finally open and nice. Then we will finish with Kilkare which may be the club's easiest climb; also one of the prettiest. Another option is Palomares. It is also pretty but getting to and from it on Niles Canyon Road is a life threatening trip, so I will load my bike in the car and drive over to it. If you want to use your E-assisted bike on steep, technical roads like Welch Creek, go ahead - knock yourself out. Start/finish at the Niles Canyon train station in Sunol. Driving from San Jose take Hw 680 north; exit at Hwy 84 (2nd Calaveras Rd exit); lt on Paloma Way (Hwy 84); lt on Niles Canyon Rd (Hwy 84); rt on Main St into and through Sunol; rt and lt into the station's parking lot.
