*** IMPROMPTU RIDE FOR STATS CREDIT *** Today's ride takes us to San Juan Bautista territory, where John C Fremont declared his Bear Flag Republic, violating the Neutrality Act of 1794, including the slaughter of hundreds of native Americans. So much for California's first US Senator, but why is his name still all over the place? Ride at your own pace, regroups optional. Start, finish and lunch at the Windmill Shopping Center in Juan Bautista. Send email or call for carpool options. Directions: Hwy 101 south; exit at Hwy 156 east; left on The Alameda (at the light); left into parking lot; park away from the shops.
