*** IMPROMPTU RIDE FOR STATS CREDIT *** Ride start: I-880 Milpitas Light Rail Station Parking Lot. Today is World Labyrinth Day. Who knew, huh? We will be part of the global celebration and explore 3 local labyrinths in Willow Glen. Labyrinths have existed for more than 4,000 years. Nowadays, they are used for meditation and to promote insight. This ride is more a social ride than a spiritual trek or fitness ride, so don’t expect a lot of enlightenment, speed or hills. We will use the Guadalupe Creek Trail and have lunch in Willow Glen. Route sheet will be provided. No drops & regroups as needed. Nasty weather cancels or modifies the ride. Any changes will be announced on the elist or call/email/text me. Alviso Slough Trail
Both nature and history buffs will enjoy this ride around a Bay Area treasure, the Alviso Slough. Waterfowl and critters; a ghost town; tales of a kidnapping, lynching and a ferry disaster provide interest. The 13 miles of slough trail are dirt, so cross bikes and mountain bikes are recommended, but a sturdy road bike will do, especially since lack of rain means trails are well-compacted. Meet at the corner of N.McCarthy Blvd. and Ranch Dr. in Milpitas behind the McDonalds. Bring a snack, as we will not stop at a commercial eatery. My cell phone: 408-250-0522. 09-05-2015 09:30:00 09-05-2015 10:30:00 6 ACTC: Do the Slough 22 mi, 1 L-LM : Both nature and history buffs will enjoy this ride around a Bay Area treasure, the Alviso Slough. Mountain bike is best for this ride, but touring or CX bike with climbing gears and good wheels should also work. Bring at least 4 bottles water.
